The CCD Plan: Affordable Routine Dental Care at Cosmodent

The Cosmodent Conservative Dentistry Plan (CCDP) is an in-house dental plan run directly by Dr André Dumas at Cosmodent in Oude Westhof, Bellville. For R220 per person per month, it covers listed routine and preventative treatments after a three-month waiting period. It isn’t medical aid or dental insurance. It’s a separate, practice-run option for anyone who wants a predictable monthly cost for everyday dental care.

Who It's For

Who Is the CCD Plan For?

The CCDP tends to suit people who want a structured, predictable way to pay for routine dental care rather than relying only on medical aid day-to-day savings. That includes individuals who don’t have medical aid at all, medical aid members who’d rather protect their available savings for other things, and families who want one simple monthly amount covering everyone rather than tracking separate dental costs.

You can apply for yourself, or add one spouse or partner and up to four children under 18 to the same plan.

What's Covered

What Does the CCD Plan Cover?

The CCDP covers a defined list of routine and preventative treatments. The main benefits are:

  • Two oral examinations and unlimited consultations each year
  • Two professional cleaning treatments (scaling and polishing), plus oral hygiene guidance
  • Unlimited emergency dental treatment when you need it
  • Four intraoral X-rays per year
  • Four listed fillings or restorations per year
  • Unlimited listed extractions, plus two fluoride treatments a year

Full clinical codes, limits and exclusions are set out in the CCDP agreement itself. This is a summary, not the complete terms.

The Cost

How Much Does the CCD Plan Cost?

The CCDP costs R220 per person, per month, the same amount whether it’s for the main member, an accepted adult dependant, or each accepted child. There’s a three-month waiting period before benefits start, and the plan runs on a minimum two-year contract, with early termination and cancellation conditions applying.

CCD Plan vs Medical Aid

What's the Difference?

The CCDP is not medical aid or dental insurance, and it doesn’t replace it. Specialised dentistry (like orthodontics or root canal treatment) isn’t included, and it’s not a substitute for a medical scheme’s broader cover. It’s best thought of as a separate, practice-run option specifically for routine and preventative care at Cosmodent.

If you do have medical aid, Cosmodent also bills most major schemes directly at Medical Aid Rate for other treatment, with no cash required upfront. And if you’re not on the CCDP or medical aid, private payment terms over 3, 6, 12 or 24 months are available, along with MediWallet for extra flexibility.

How to Apply

How Do I Apply for the CCD Plan?

The application is a short online form split into a few steps. You’ll need:

  • ID documents for the main member and any dependants being added
  • Proof of residential address
  • Three months of bank statements
  • Three months of payslips
  • Contact details for one reference who doesn’t live at your address

You’ll sign the application electronically at the end. Submitting it doesn’t activate the plan straight away. Cosmodent reviews every application before it’s approved.
